When Mike Wichert was 11 years old, he started learning the trade of hardwood flooring from a neighbor. Often, Mike would tag along on job sites, as a helper. He would help with stocking trucks, equipment, layout of new hardwood flooring projects or pick up boards. Mike enjoyed the work and was eager to learn. As a teenager, Mike soon was working full time in the summers on hardwood flooring projects with his neighbor’s flooring company. He learned all aspects of the trade from residential to commercial flooring projects. In 1994, it was time for Mike to start his own business and he launched Wicks Wood Floors, Inc. The flooring business operated out of his home for a few years. The business grew fast. Soon he had 5 employees and rented a store front on Arcadian Avenue in Waukesha. The business grew to 10 employees practically overnight. In 2005 he purchased the current College Avenue property. The new shop provided office space and warehouse. Today, Wicks Wood Floors continues to be a first choice destination for all of your hardwood flooring needs.
